So I have recently started renting a place on a short term contract and I have learnt A LOT about renting. So I am going to write a list of things I would recommend doing before you move in and once you have moved in.
1. Make sure they supply you with an inventory list where you write down everything there is and any faults. Similar to when you rent a car.
2. Check the house out fully before you sign anything. The shower. The floors. The cooker. The lights. If any problems occur you want to make sure that they can't say you caused it.
3. Take pictures. This one I recommend the most purely because nothing beats dated photo evidence of faults.
4. Read the whole contract and make sure that you keep a copy once it's signed. They can sometimes put extra clauses in in the hopes that you aren't going to notice and similarly if you are only signing one page and don't have a full copy they can change the clauses as an when they like and claim that it's what you signed.
In honesty I don't think most people come across any issues like this when they rent houses but if you aren't aware then there is ALWAYS the possibility that these things could happen.

Family...
So I remember when I lived at home I constantly thought to myself how much I would hate the day that my brothers and sister started their own separate lives and inevitably families because I would never have the same bond with them etc...
It wasn't until today, a year into living away from home, that I realised 1. The only reason I felt that way was because my life hadn't started yet and 2. We have all been doing that exact thing for so long now and nothing has changed.
I think the one thing that is constant in your life is your family and so you can always instantly worry that they will forget you when they start their own, but I guess the realisation is that they never forget they are just to busy to remember. I know I am a prime culprit of that ever since I left home and I am certain it will carry on like that. The nice thing is that you can always tell when one of your family is thinking about you by the random texts and the odd little Facebook comments.

Hey...
I figure blogging is a weird thing. It's like an online diary which you crave for people to want to read. It's a strange concept but yet here I am =P
I suppose this blog will be a place where I mostly talk about...the future? hopes? dreams?
I really don't know if I am honest. I hope that I can use it as a place for me to write what I am thinking and if at all make sure that I don't end up giving up on the things I want.
So here's the thing...
I am studying to work in the film industry, I know it sounds oh so hopeful and foolish, but actually I find it to be fulfilling and plus people ALWAYS need entertaining, the one industry that doesn't fail in recessions is entertainment because people need things to keep their spirits up.
Anyway thats just boring facts, my point is I am a year into my degree and I am surrounded by people who really have no idea what they want to do with their degree. I don't know what I will do for the long term, I just know what I want to do with it now and if that changes over the years I really don't care I just want to do what keeps me happy, money or no.
Right now I want to travel and document it. Actually I always knew I would work on documentaries but since moving from my hometown and embarking on life as an adult by myself I have realised that ALL I currently want to do is travel, see the world, show the world and just focus on my passions in life. The way I figure it is that people like to watch other people who are passionate about what they are doing, it makes something so much more interesting than say watching one of those boring 'Holiday in the sun' programmes based in hotels on palm beaches.
Currently my biggest inspiration is a guy called Peter who does his own online videos called InTransit under the YouTube name pdrop. I love how he started off walking across the state that he lives in with his friends and filming it with no agenda other than the fact that he wanted to see if he could do it. See thats what I think is vital in travel vlogging, not doing it to earn but doing it because you want to. For me I want to go to places to climb and hike and kayak and just generally embrace other cultures. Filming it just seems to be the logical thing to do and in honesty if I get 10 people (who aren't related to me) watching me to see what I am doing I would be happy.
Safe to say none of these great trips across the world will be anywhere in my direct future, but I do stay hopeful that as long as I am dreaming about them they will happen. I suppose for the time being my own country is my oyster and we shall see where I go from there .
